Due process?
The Dark Wraith does like to learn about the pre-neo-con language of law.
Wrote My Pet Goat:
No mystery there. Due process means nothing more than deciding to use your right or left hand, and if you should wear a mask.
Wrote rcg:
Wow, DW, thanks for another great graphic. And hey, I know I've dropped out. (It's a financial survival thing....) But I'm glad to see that you are still here. Best Regards!!
Wrote Lynn at Zelleweb:
With all due respect, and I do respect that you are making a statement here, I guess I am just not sure how I feel about it to comment.
Talking heads all over tv have been saying that Bush simply exercised a power granted to him, legally, by the constitution. Perhaps what we should be asking is why WE don't use the functions of law to do more.
Maybe you know about this, DW: There was a movement to try a different angle on impeach/account, using the issue of improper abuse of authority of the National Guard troops, who (claimed the organizers) are under authority of state governors. Some say there are some legal arguments against their deployment. I wanted to follow the story but then it seemed to vanish. Now perhaps their argument was looser than anticipated, or perhaps they ended up on a plane to Eastern Europe. Who knows. I can't find out if the case had legs or not.
Wrote Lynn at Zelleweb:
Wow DW I am not very observant, just now noticed your 'Dark Wraith Recommends"----> so thank you! I was glad to see that Lynn did not ride a cannon and also glad to discover she was not the dreaded gardener again pulling weeds from boxwoods.
Lynn fancies herself more of a glamorpuss, if only in the pulp world.

Did Bushco make it a moot argument when he unilaterally declared (via executive memo) that the national guard comes under his orders if there's an emergency anywhere in the world?
Wrote Father Tyme:
There's something that most people don't "get" about Bush.
The law is a fickle thing. Basically you can do anything you want up to and including murder...BUT..if nothing is done about it, you can get away with it.
BUSH DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE LAW! or anything else. I'm tired of hearing these pretendits on TEE VEE claim that if enough people are offended by his actions, he'll look at himself and stop. Where are their heads if not up their (or someone else's) ass?
This man, for lack of a better term, doesn't give the slightest sh&t (rating!) about anyone or anything but HIS interests. America be damned!
And I think that the majority of Americans are like Lieberman in that they can't see the sun on a clear day.
As long as it doesn't affect them personally, it's ok. The population of this country is Bush-whipped; better make that "Chainy-ed". I called them SAPs before; 'Stupid American People.'
Whether it's the fault of the Press or not is moot. The press lost credibility in 2001 when they stopped merely sucking and started swallowing. It's the people of this country that stopped thinking years ago.
When Americans today can't tell you how many serve on the Supreme Pizza Court or the name of the VICE president, balance check books or manage their own finances, know when the War of 1812 was fought, but know all the stars on American Idol, the NASCAR standings down to tenths of a point, stand in line for hours to spend money they don't have on Steve Jobs snow job, and are proud of their Wii scores, they are ripe for plucking (substitute 'f' for the 'pl').
Rove and the Neo Cons saw this and used it just as Goebbels did. He just didn't have the means to get it to all the Germans as quickly. But their main creed is still that they will do whatever they want until someone has the balls to stop them. They counted on the apathy and stupidity of the American People and hoped the Democrats in Congress would follow; they did.
And now we have the nerve to get pissed about what Prescott's grandson has done??!!
We've been had. And while most aren't even aware of what's going on in life the rest just don't want to accept it.
Bush will do whatever he wants and NO ONE is going to stop him; not Nancy, not Harry, Not Hillary not Obama.
Sorry for the rant.
Wrote My Pet Goat:
Sorry for the rant.
The only apology needed is for stopping. I was enjoying that, however painfully true it is.
Wrote Lynn at Zelleweb:
Father Tyme, tell us what you REALLY think!
No, I hear you. I agree. I think that the disregard for the law is obvious, and we aren't doing anything about it.
I suppose what SB Gypsy said is true, I am just hard pressed to see how the pre-emptive invasion of a sovereign country constitutes an emergency. (It doesn't have to.)
Any time somebody thinks of a way to gain legal traction, it is quickly abandoned. In one political office, the constituent services aid said she almost never received correspondence related to impeachment. No bags of letters? No jammed phone lines? Weren't my outraged friends writing? This woman told me to get real.
There are alot of people that talk about the ignorance and apathy, but what to do? The few who try to be active become exhausted, marginalized, or consumed by perpetual futility. It seems cynical, but we don't have a whole lot of gumption in us. We don't have the attention span and government business just can't compete with escapism, self absorption, materialism and associated pursuits, and the tv sludge.
We all have a role in enabling and ignoring, but what the hell is the next step once this is pointed out a few hundred times?
For all of our superiority and informed opinion, it feels like things are getting worse, not better, in many aspects. It's painfully true, I think we know its true. The tough part is what to do with that. Vodka?
Wrote Labrys:
::::takes vodka::::Thank you, I need it this morning more than of a usual news-reading binge. That graphic, dear Wraith, perfectly demonstrates why Mr. Hussein had to be hanged, not imprisoned. We couldn't have someone later on looking and going "Oh, wait...." and letting him out again.
One thing I will give Bush Co....they never fail to show me the pit of shattered expectations is bottomless.
Wrote trog69:
Good afternoon, all.
Well, the graphic looks great, DW, but I must call shenanigans.
1) Had Beanieboy been in that situation, his blubbering would have been heard in Kurdish territory.
2) There is no way that anyone could have stood that close to ol' barren brainpan, not the way he would have filled his pants.
Wrote Father Tyme:
Sweet justice would be to use the same rope that was used on Saddam.
Wrote Nvisiblewmn:
Repost it, DW? I'm scared that I even LOOKED at it. I'll look for you in that secret detention facility in Eastern Europe. Maybe I'll finally learn some math while waiting for the torture?
Wrote Dark Wraith:
Good afternoon, Nvisiblewmn.
I think maybe you can get some leniency from Dr. "Omar" once he understands what you went through in your prison cell with learning differential equations from your cell mate.
Heck, they might even ask you to show them how to do that kind of torture.
The Dark Wraith has been wondering when Amnesty International is going to catch up with some of his tactics.
Wrote Nvisiblewmn:
Hmmm, maybe I'll just skip straight to the bamboo under the fingernails.... Or, worse yet, they could make me listen to our ex-Atty Gen sing "The Eagle Soared" over and over until I break and tell them whatever they want (5 times would probably do it).
