we don't need to "forgive and forget"
reconcilliation and truth commissions are for places that endured hundreds of years.
these motherfuckers have only been at it for eight.
ship them to the hague for war crimes. bush, cheney, rumsfeld, ashcroft, gonzales, woo, addington, feith, all those motherfuckers.
try them in the world court. they will get a fair hearing there.
one of the biggest casualties of the bush years has been our courts.

Who will Obama pardon?
I predict that we'll see no one of consequence pay for their crimes.
I wish it weren't so.
And Bush has plenty of time to leave behind another big steaming turd. He has a longstanding history of trashing every place he's lived and every business he's run.
Is it no wonder that he's done the same to the White House?
Bush, the man with the reverse Midas touch. Everything turns to shit.

Does this mean it's okay for Vera Baker to come back from Martinique and live in the United States again?

Obama won't have to pardon; Bu$hie will do enough of that on his own.
Obama will move on, however, and allow no prosecutions, because he's riding the Unity pony, and selling butterflies and rainbows.
Oh yeah. And there's the little detail of Goldman-Sachs and the rest of the Carlyle Group boys holding that adjustible rate mortgage on his soul...

I agree, DW. I will not be surprised to learn that Obama will take the Clinton route, and let bygones be bygones, thinking that this time, the Republicans will be soooo grateful, and this will become a bargaining chip of some kind, rather than become the butt of their jokes, again.
If wishes came true, I'd wish that Congress and Obama's Cabinet decide to cut the Religious Right out of the picture, and fund only secular activities at much more moderate, progressive, non-proselytizing churches and charities. Then, when James Dobson and The Family and the Spiritual Warriors really become unhinged, I wish that the less-fundamental Christian Republicans finally see the light, shining through the heads of Focus on the Family leadership, and tell them to take a hike, leaving only the Michelle Bachmanns to stand with their fellows in a NEW POLITICAL PARTY-The REICHLANDERS!
Aww mom, do I gotta wake up? I was in heaven...

Rahm Emmanuel, the Republican Plant in the Democratic Party may become Obama's Chief of Staff.
He's what you get when you cross Karl Rove with a Donkey. and he didn't get the donkey's best half...
The kind of change you don't want to believe in...

I agree that Obama will decree prosecution a waste of time. While I'd love a good excuse to swing my axe at guilty parties, I imagine Obama will have better things to apply his energies to with vigor. But I do hope the truth will leak out of the nasty bag of lies to give America the no nonsense message that tolerating such robber baron behavior is BAD for the entire country and world. I feel a bit more hopeful now, for the first time is a very long time.

From The Truthseeker:
The new "golden boy" of the Democrat Party, the Israeli-American congressman Rahm Emanuel, is the son of terrorist. There's more at the link and if you search Irgun+Bomb+Hotel, why, there's just a shitpotfull.
Really, I am not making this up, the chief power-broker of the Democrat Party, the 5-and-a-half foot foul-mouthed Israeli named Rahm, is the son of terrorist – a real living terrorist.
So, what do we do as citizens of the land of the free and the home of the brave fighting the War on Terror?
Do we run and hide from the foul-mouthed little Israeli who danced ballet and swears for effect - or do we laugh? Or do we demand answers? How can we respect a U.S. Congressman who served in a foreign army and whose father was a terrorist?
Rep. Rahm Emanuel, the Democrat congressman for the 5th District of Illinois in Chicago is the son of an Israeli terrorist. Rahm's father, Benjamin, was a member of the Irgun, the Zionist terrorist organization that coined a new word as they blew up hotels, train stations, and other buildings in Palestine in the 1930s and 40s.
Maybe this means there's no longer any need to call up "rent-a-terrorist" if we need to scare the shit out of the American people--just walk down the hall and say, "Youse t'ink youse kin git a few o' da boyz togedder fer a liddle job?"
(I'll have to do a little research to discover whether the King David Hotel imploded and collapsed back in 1946 when it was blown up by the Irgun, like some other buildings that I can think of more recently.)
Wrote Dark Wraith:
Let us be charitable, here, Peter. We surely cannot hold the short and debonair Rahm responsible for his terrorist father's actions. Just because he never repudiated those acts of horrific violence done by his father, we should not hold him accountable for supporting, or even turning a blind eye to, terrorism.
Besides, Menachim Begin was a member of Irgun, too, and we surely should not be going around claiming that a sovereign nation would elect as its prime minister a terrorist.
Indeed, Rahm Emanuel should not be held accountable for anything his dad said or did.
We do that to men like Mel Gibson, who is routinely pilloried for the disgraceful Holocaust denial of his father. It's right and honorable to damn him not just because of his own anti-Semitism, but also because of that of his father.
Furthermore, you might recall not that long ago when Meghan McCain, for speaking in support of her father the way a loving daughter would of a dad she's proud of, was called the filthiest, vilest names imaginable by a Leftist blogger of our acquaintance. (Link will be provided upon request to that hate-fest.)
Now, that's altogether reasonable, don't you think?
I mean, sheesh, just because people can spew disgusting names at a girl who loves her father enough to speak on his behalf doesn't mean we should be saying anything whatsoever about a man like Rahm who won't condemn his father's involvement in acts of terrorism that killed and maimed hundreds of people.
I think everyone will agree with me: let's ignore what a leader of our country is doing wrong as he prepares to assume the reins of power; that will make it so much easier to ignore his errors when he's in charge.
That's how the conservatives did it for George W. Bush, and we all know what a great Administration that turned out to be, what with all of his supporters dualing up as his yes-men.
The Dark Wraith sees nothing but fun days ahead.

Whatever you say, Wraith. I'll lay off hurling accusations and stick to squinty-eyed conspiracy theories such as the ones I've been reading the last few years about there being an underground city beneath the Denver airport, the establishment of Denver as the new seat of the American government, and...oh yeah, there's this from GNNTVHeadlines:
Army Document Reveals Plan to Take 7 Million Acres in SE Colorado
TRINIDAD, Colorado — The Pentagon has been planning since at least 2004 to acquire almost 7 million acres in southeastern Colorado, forcing more than 17,000 residents off their land to establish the largest military base in the world, according to documents obtained in a federal court case. There's more at the link.
The unprecedented acquisition of 6.9 million acres, or 10,800 square miles, of private and public land would result in a military reservation larger than some states, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New Jersey. The multi-service battlefield would be more than triple the size of the enormous White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, which at 3,200 square miles is currently the largest military installation in the United States. It would undermine the whole southeastern corner of Colorado east of the Rockies destroying the last intact shortgrass prairie remaining in the American Great Plains.

As Krugman points out, the remains of the day are the most intractable.
Even now, the Bush-Cheney criminal cabal moves swiftly to rearrange the world to their advantage while they can.
We need to stop this now. Now, the Democratic Congress needs to move on Impeachment of Bush and Cheney to open the way for their criminal prosecution.
Even if it does not pass, it may serve to keep them from doing incredible damage in the time that remains of their administration.
