For Tibet
From Pakistan to Kenya, from Armenia to Burma, peoples of the world are rising up against the fist of oppression, rebelling against tyranny, demanding that they be given their property in freedom.
This day in Tibet, the people are in open revolt against the thugs in Beijing who would dare to pretend to legitimate leadership. Once again, men and women are turning away from the lies of rulers who speak of "freedom" in the same breath that they demand of their citizens surrender to "order" and "security." People across the world are choosing no longer to live in fear on their knees, but instead to fight and die for their future.
For their battle, the Tibetans are honored; for their sacrifice, they are praised; for their example, they are remembered.

REUTERS:
China has said at least 10 "innocent civilians" died, mostly in fires lit by rioters.
But an outside Tibetan source with close ties in Lhasa said that number was far too low. He cited a contact who claimed to have counted many more corpses of people killed in the riots or subsequent crackdown.
"He said there were 67 bodies in one morgue alone," the source told Reuters. "He saw it with his own eyes."

I hadn't even heard/read about the Tibetan protests until I stopped here. I haven't read too much about it, now, but according to a CBS article, 10 people were burned to death. Just thinking about the violence/"baton-wielding police" makes me remember some of those wicked weapons that could be used on protest groups, and I wonder and worry about the plans for future protests here in the US. According to the article, even in US, protestors clashed with police in NY, with injuries on both sides.
I agree with Moody Blue...that graphic is pretty darned cool.

and when the american delegation complained to the chinese government about these violations of simple human rights and decency they lit cigarettes with their american IOU's and began to sing a dirty little jingle about abu ghraib and guantanamo.

This set off a series of 'bannings' - something the Chinese government is famous for.
I've been to China - years ago. I wrote about it, if you remember (China From The Ground http://www.fatladysings.us/..."> Part One and <a href="
