Special Announcement:
The UnCapitalist Journal
I am most pleased to announce that The UnCapitalist Journal, founded in 2005 by Charles Todd Norman, has now become a member of the growing family of online, progressive Websites published by The Dark Wraith Forums. The Wikipedia entry for The UnCapitalist Journal describes it in part as follows:"Founded in 2005 by a group of internet bloggers critical or skeptical of capitalism, The UnCapitalist Journal is a blog collective offering an alternative to mainstream media news..."Articles published at TUCJ are regularly picked up by, among other news services, Google News.
While I still have some work to do in cleaning up a few residual effects of almost 400,000 spam messages that had infected components of the Website complex (you read that right: four hundred thousand!), what remains in that regard is to remove several remaining points of vulnerability. Beyond that largely technical matter, the tasks ahead involve making a few minor adjustments to the site architecture, then drawing some of the other original writers back and inviting several new contributors to join. Nevertheless, The UnCapitalist Journal is alive and well, with your host here at The Dark Wraith Forums, along with Jason Miller of Thomas Paine's Corner, publishing both cross-posted and original content.
The Dark Wraith warmly invites you to make The UnCapitalist Journal a regular part of your Internet readings.

I get to be the first to congratulate you, Wraith!
Fantastic, and wow!
(400,000 spams? Ewww! And other technical headaches... oy.)
Good Morning Dark Wraith:
Scepticism, contrarian philosophies, dissent, hey, what's not to love?
I second minstrel boy...
Good afternoon Dark Wraith:
small point of information, i went to leave a comment and was not able to get past a "page not found" screen. i even tried to cheat by using my username and password from 3B's, but no, that didn't work either.
good stuff maynard.
Wraith,
You might want to take a look at This Post by a spammer over at the Discussion Forums. Yeah, it's another "spam-ad", but, for the controlled substance "phentermine".
Speculation: Could somebody be trying to associate the Forum and its members with illegal activity?
Hi Dark Wraith, Congrats!
400,000 eh? Would not surprise me.
While I am no where close to that much I do get hit with hundreds of spam each day.
Most, like what Peteroflonetree was implying try to link my site with some Viagra, gay porn, maching fucking, or other various vulgar and possibly illegal activities.
Fortunately, Moveable Type seems to "learn" which comments are junk and not junk.
But these fuckers are relentless. I think their bots, not people pushing this crap through the internet.
400,000...yikes!
Makes me glad sometimes to be a small low traffic whole-in-the-wall blog...
I saw this over at RawStory and thought it ought to be shared with any who hadn't read it yet:
The very rich are now separating from the merely rich and it's causing divisions in the historically remunerative professions.

Wraith, a question for you.
While I realize you are not a free market absolutist (thank God), why join with open skeptcis of capitalism, which you've made a repeated point of saying you are not?
- oddjob (who admits he has not yet perused this newly associated blog)
Good evening, OddJob, and thank you for asking that.
I am an academic in what I fancy an old tradition: free inquiry is essential not only to the strong society, but also to the enlightened scholar. I am little more than a Right-winger in progressive sack cloth if I cannot withstand the withering critiques of capitalism, and I am even less if I cannot learn from reasoned criticism of that which I have learned as supposedly foundational.
And besides, my friend, I am taking no small degree of satisfaction in just pissing off the Little Chicago Boys who thought they had long ago destroyed me, as they are watching from the shadows as I rise from the dead and publish articles of my own and of others that are being read by more people than they'll ever dream of even meeting.
The Dark Wraith really shouldn't be that way, of course, and he'll work on getting it under control... someday.
In keeping with the RawStory post, here is an interesting editorial from Sunday's Boston Globe.
